February 2018 Newsletter

UPCOMING PROJECTS:

1. Lake Wilderness Speed Remedy Options: The LWHOA Board met with Scott Tkach, Public Works & Community Development Director, for a Speed Remedy Update. As you may remember from previous Newsletters, Scott had proposed a Q1 2018 implementation.

Agreed Upon Items:

  • Install sufficient golf crossing signs where appropriate
  • Move 25 mph sign at north entrance to side “calming circle”
  • Install golf cart signs located as golf carts enter the roadways stating something to the affect, “yield to oncoming traffic”
  • Locate 4 separate speed and volume measuring devices at potential speed zones. Two separate testing sessions to be done.  The first within the next 4 weeks and a second during the spring when increased traffic naturally occurs

Proposed items:

  • Consider rumble groves installed prior to intersections and/or stop signage.  Rumble groves are similar to those located on the side of roads to alert drivers they are moving off the main roadway.
  • Consider a new option for golf carts to cross Lake Wilderness County Club Drive from the club house to the 15 tee box. Considerations are:
    • Move crossing adjacent to the 18th green
    • Develop a path that travels behind the fence across from the existing exit to the club house parking lot.
  • Paint 25 mph notices within roadways dependent on results of the speed and volumes determined from the testing.
  • Paint/repair the golf course fence: Awaiting approval from the Lake Wilderness Golf Course

LWHOA BOARD ANNOUNCEMENT:

Please meet your NEW LWHOA Board members: We appreciate the gift of time and energy – Thank you!

Wayne Lawless It’s an honor and a privilege to serve LWHOA as a Board Member.  Having been born in Kentucky, going to 11 schools in 12 years all across the country, I have a great appreciation of what the Northwest offers. My family; Jennifer, Jack and I, moved to Lake Wilderness in May of 2016 and have been loving it ever since.  We are actively involved in our church where Jennifer is Director of Missions and Outreach; Jack is an avid soccer player and a Junior at Tahoma HS.  After 40 years in retail, 35 with a regional Hallmark chain and 5 with Enesco, I am immensely enjoying my second career in the home mortgage and refinance arena with Cornerstone Home Lending.
Travis Smith My name is Travis Smith.  My wife, Linnea, and I grew up in the community and both graduated from Tahoma. We have been married now coming up on 10 years. We purchased our home in March of 2010 and have loved every minute of it. We have 2 wonderful kids Emma (7) and Evan (5). They love to ride their bikes and scooters in the cul-de-sac rain or shine. I work for the BNSF railroad as a freight train conductor and go all over The NW.  I am enjoying the opportunity to be involved and be a part of the LWHOA Board.
Doug Young My wife, Clarissa, and I have lived in the Puget Sound for almost 6 years, 4 of which have been here in Maple Valley. We have been married for almost 14 years and have 4 boys. I grew up in Northern California where I earned my BS in Operations Management, from Cal State Univ-Chico, and later got my MBA from BYU. I currently work for Boeing as an Asset Manager. I am a huge baseball fan and enjoy spending time with my family.
