CHRISTMAS LIGHT CONTEST WINNERS:

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Christmas Light Contest this year, as well as to those who performed the judging! The Christmas lights were spectacular this season. Being able to walk thru the neighborhood on those “dry” evenings has certainly been enjoyable.

For Traditional, the winners are as follows:

What does it take to be a Board Member on the Lake Wilderness HOA?

  1. Attend monthly meetings – 3rd Wednesday of each month from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (No meetings June or December). Currently the HOA meetings are virtual
  2. Participate in Community events such as The National Night Out (Cancelled for 2020 due to Covid)
  3. Participate in e-mail correspondence

*Lake Wilderness HOA Board Member terms are for 2 years.

How does being a Lake Wilderness HOA Board Member affect you?

  1. Protect Your Property: Being involved with the Lake Wilderness HOA will put you in a better position to make and implement policies in the Community. Some of these policies may directly affect property value, especially if they require decisions about the association’s budget or routine maintenance
  2. Meet More of Your Expectations: By serving on the HOA Board, you can achieve your expectations of a more enjoyable Lake Wilderness Community by working with your neighbors
  3. Give Back to Your Community: This allows you the opportunity to make good decisions that will have a positive impact on everyone

Volunteers: Another opportunity for residents, besides being an HOA Board Member, is to volunteer for the various committees that the LWHOA oversees such as communication, parking, and landscaping.

Board meetings are still being held virtually and this may become the new normal of the future. Because of this, we see an opportunity to improve communication for the HOA Board, Lake Wilderness Residents, and Around the Clock. We’d like to ask that you send your e-mail address to James at Around the Clock (themanagementtteam@lwhoa.com). E-mails will, of course, be kept confidential and will only be used by the HOA and Around the Clock to communicate to the Lake Wilderness Residents.

ANNUAL HOMEOWNER’S MEETING:

The LWHOA Annual Homeowner’s meeting was held on November 18, 2020. For those who were unable to attend – please see the report that was shared during the meeting.

President’s Report –

Without overstating what has already been stated thousands of times, 2020 has been a year that will live in infamy as a year of loss, a year of fear, a year of turmoil, a year of searching within to survive the unknown and many times the known.

The Lake Wilderness community continues to remain a community of pride, of solidarity, and of perseverance.
Your LWHOA Board has been active within the limits of social, state, and safety regulations.
Meetings are now held virtually with all the challenges therein with computers and navigating through connectivity.

The ACC has been as active as ever as more residents are staying home and improving their property and homes.
The common areas continue to be maintained by our landscaping provider with an eye for detail.
Mailboxes needing replacement have been replaced with newer models that should last longer than the concrete they are situated on.

Staying safe required the Board to cancel the annual garage sale. Staying safe required the cancellation of the National Night Out. These ware always special events and ones which we hope will be reinstated in 2021.
Some issues to share:

  • The Board reached out to the MV Parks and Rec to jointly contribute to replacing the deteriorating fences along the 18th green and 15th tee box. The MV Parks and Rec was not receptive and the proposal was dropped.
  • The Board was hoping to place additional speed signs on the light posts throughout the neighborhood. Unfortunately, the light posts are the responsibility of the Muni and residents/HOA’s cannot post any signs on them.
  • There was some significant improvement with no overnight parking on the streets. Still some work to be done on the side streets.

Halloween was less then desired, but I thank those brave parents who took their children out and those residents who opened their doors to all the Trick or Treaters.

Next week is Thanksgiving and we’re all aware of the newly imposed limitations from the governor’s office regarding celebrations and gatherings. May this not diminish the importance of the season and the Christmas season to follow.
We continue with the annual holiday Christmas Light decorating competition with two categories:

  • Traditional: 1st Place ($100) – 2nd Place ($75) – 3rd Place ($50)
  • Contemporary: 1st Place ($100) – 2nd Place ($75) – 3rd Place ($50)

Also, the Jerry Woods Holiday Fire Engine Food Drive will be in our neighborhood on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 at approximately 7:20 p.m. for the Annual Food Drive.

With the new hope of vaccines on the not too distant horizon, let this season be a prelude to a return to the new normal.
Lastly, I would like to thank all the 2020 Board members;

  • Shirley Evans, ACC
  • Carrie Fiedler, ACC and
  • Chuck Groat. Vice President till March.

Lastly, the support of James Tungsvik, Associate Manager with our property management group cannot be overstated. With his guidance and business savvy, we have been successful and have avoided pitfalls that continue to challenge your volunteers on the Board.

The Board is completely voluntary with current residents from the LWHOA community. Without volunteers, there is no support, no progress and no results.

UPCOMING PROJECTS:

Golf Course Fence: The LWHOA Board met with Dave Johnson, Parks & Recreation Director/Asst City Manager, to explore whether the City of Maple Valley might be willing to partner with the LWHOA to replace the fence located next to the 15th and 18th holes. As the conversation progresses, an update will be included in the December newsletter

One outstanding mailbox to be installed. Installation will occur in the next 30 days

COMPLETED PROJECTS:

CHRISTMAS LIGHT CONTEST:

It seems with each passing year the Christmas decorations in the neighborhood just get better and better. While social distancing continues, being able to walk and drive thru a beautifully decorated neighborhood remains available to us all.

The Christmas light contest judging will take place December 16th thru 21st. The winners will be announced in our January 2020 newsletter.
